Emergency medical Clinics to be established In FCT PDF Print E-mail

The Health and Human Services Secretariat of the Federal Capital Territory Administration has concluded arrangements to establish mobile clinics with the aim of providing Emergency Medical Services for residents and visitors to the FCT.

Under the plan, the Secretary noted, pre-hospital care services will be provided to patients. He stated that with the high influx of people into the FCT, coupled with its growing status in global politics as well as increasing activities in construction, commerce, politics, international diplomacy, tourism amongst others, the FCT is fast becoming prone to medical emergencies and disasters. According to him, medical emergencies arising from plane crash, building collapse, fire outbreak, floods from rain, sudden collapse, gunshot etc were some of the cases that will require prompt attention of the EMS.

He said the first phase of the programme will commence with the training of ambulance drivers, medics and paramedics, while the Secretariat will also explore areas of collaboration with the police, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), fire services operators, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), communication companies, toward ensuring the success of the initiative.
